The 12 - Week Year
With the 12-week year, you set aside a number of goals (between 3 and 5, usually) that you commit to achieving at the end of the 12 weeks. These goals should be obtainable, but not easy, so there needs to be a push from your side. Remember to link the short-term goals to your long-term goals and your vision.
First, brainstorm the things you really want in life, blue sky thinking, long-term vision.” Then, based on your long-term vision, describe your 3-year vision. You'll use your 3-year vision to create your 12-week goals. Based on your vision, choose one or more goals to pursue for the next 12 weeks. Break the year down into 12-week chunks and let each 12-week period stand alone. 12 weeks is long enough to get things done but short enough to create a sense of urgency. Now, a year = a 12 12-weekriod, a month = a week, and a week = a day.
The major parts of a standard strategic plan include the following: Mission, vision, and aspirations. Core values. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Objectives, strategies, and operational tactics. Measurements and funding streams.
